The two parts of the laws of war (or Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC)): Law concerning acceptable practices while engaged in

Geneva Conventions, is called jus in bello; while law concerning allowable justifications for armed force is called
jus ad bellum.These laws are theoretically applicable only to nations which approve and consent to bind to them, usually in the form of international organizations or
diplomacy, but in practice all nations are expected to follow the laws of war.
