LIDAR
LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging, also LADAR) is an optical remote sensing technology that can measure the distance to, or other properties of a target by illuminating the target with light, often using pulses from a laser. LIDAR technology has application in geomatics, archaeology, geography, geology, geomorphology, seismology, forestry, remote sensing and atmospheric physics, as well as in airborne laser swath mapping (ALSM), laser altimetry and LIDAR contour mapping.

Light detection and ranging
Light detection and ranging (Lidar) ist eine dem Radar (englisch radiowave detection and ranging) sehr verwandte Methode zur optischen Abstands- und Geschwindigkeitsmessung sowie zur Fernmessung atmosphärischer Parameter. Statt Funkwellen wie beim Radar werden jedoch Laserstrahlen verwendet.

Light detection and ranging
Light detection and ranging, LIDAR (även LADAR eller laser-radar), är ett optiskt mätinstrument som mäter egenskaper hos reflekterat ljus för att finna avståndet och/eller andra egenskaper av ett avlägset föremål. Exempel på vardagliga applikationer är optiska avståndsmätare i byggindustri och trafikhastighetsövervakning. För vetenskapliga undersökningar används LIDAR för att göra avståndsmätningar av till exempel aerosoler eller gaser, exempelvis ozon.

Lidar
Lidar – urządzenie działające na podobnej zasadzie jak radar. Nazwa pochodzi od angielskiego akronimu LIDAR, utworzonego od wyrażenia: Light Detection and Ranging.
Lidar jest połączeniem lasera z teleskopem. Laser wysyła poprzez specjalny układ optyczny bardzo krótkie i dokładnie odmierzone, ale silne impulsy światła o konkretnej długości fali i w określonym kierunku. Światło to ulega po drodze rozproszeniu, które jest obserwowane za pomocą teleskopu, znajdującego się w tym samym urządzeniu, a następnie rejestrowane za pomocą czułego detektora – fotodiody lub fotopowielacza, który bada natężenie zaobserwowanego rozproszonego światła. Otrzymane dane są następnie analizowane komputerowo.
