LAURENTIAN

A group of greatly altered and very ancient rocks, which is greatly developed along the course of the St. Laurence, whence the name. It is in these that the earliest known traces of organic bodies have been found.

Système de roches très anciennes et très altérées, très développé le long du cours du Saint-Laurent, d'où il tire son nom. C'est dans ces roches qu'on a trouvé les traces des corps organiques les plus anciens.
