LAPCAT (Long-Term Advanced Propulsion Concepts and Technologies) was a 36 month European FP6 study to examine ways to produce engines for a Mach 4-8 hypersonic aircraft. The project ended in April 2008. It was funded by the European Commission research and development fund (rather than ESA), and cost 7 million euros.

Das Long-Term Advanced Propulsion Concepts and Technologies (LAPCAT) ist ein Programm des Europäischen Weltraumforschungs- und Technologiezentrums (ESTEC), einer Unterorganisation der Europäischen Weltraumorganisation (ESA). Ziel ist die Entwicklung eines Wasserstofftriebwerkes, mit dem zivile Verkehrsflugzeuge Geschwindigkeiten von etwa 6000 km/h (Mach 5) erreichen sollen.
