Lääne County , or Läänemaa (, ), is one of 15 counties of Estonia. It is located in western Estonia and borders Baltic Sea to the north, Harju County to the north-east, Rapla County to the east, Pärnu County to the south, and the island counties of Saare and Hiiu to the west. 27,477 people live in Lääne County – constituting 2.0% of the total population in Estonia (as of January 2009).

La Région de l'Ouest (ou Läänemaa) est l'une des 15 régions d'Estonie. Elle est située au nord-ouest du pays, avec pour capitale Haapsalu. La région compte habitants, soit 2 % du total du pays, pour une superficie de 2 383 km².

Lääne län (estniska: Lääne maakond eller Läänemaa) är ett län i västra Estland (Läänemaa betyder ordagrant "Västland"). Områdets historiska namn på svenska, danska och tyska var Wiek eller Wieck. Det blev danskt 1227 i samband med Valdemar Sejrs korståg, ingick i biskopsdömet Ösel-Wiek 1228-1560, som tillhörde Tyska orden 1346-1560. Det året såldes området tillbaka till Danmark, medan resten av Tyska ordens estländska besittningar ställdes under svenskt beskydd. Wiek intogs av Sverige 1582 under Nordiska tjugofemårskriget och blev då en del av Svenska Estland. Området tillerkändes Sverige formellt 1645 vid freden i Brömsebro, men förlorades till Ryssland vid freden i Nystad 1721.
