Kublai Khan

Kublai or Khubilai Khan (September 23, 1215 - February 18, 1294) (Mongolian: Хубилай хаан, ), was the fifth and last Khagan (1260–1294) of the Mongol Empire. In 1271, he founded the Yuan Dynasty, and became the first Yuan emperor. He was the second son of Tolui and Sorghaghtani Beki and a grandson of Genghis Khan. The civil war between him and his younger brother Ariq Böke over the succession of their older brother Möngke (died in 1259) essentially marked the end of a unified Mongol empire.

Februar 1294 in Peking) war ein Enkel Dschingis Khans und von 1260 bis 1294 ein bedeutender mongolischer Herrscher in der Yuan-Dynastie. Er war Sohn von Tolui, dem vierten Sohn Dschingis Khans, und Bruder von Möngke Khan und herrschte von 1271 bis zu seinem Tod 1294 als Kaiser von China.

Chan Kubilaj, Kubilaj Chan (23 września 1215-1294) – wnuk Czyngis-chana, syn Tołuja i Sorkaktani-beki, piąty wielki chan mongolski.Kubilaj był pierwszym z wielkich chanów mongolskich, który szczycił się wykształceniem. Prawdopodobnie dzięki swemu wykształceniu opuścił rodzinne stepy Mongolii, decydując się na osiadły tryb życia w Chinach. Być może zrozumiał, że państwem tym można rządzić, jedynie będąc na miejscu, nie zaś z dalekiej Mongolii.

Figlio secondogenito di Tului e Sorghaghtani Beki, quindi nipote di Gengis Khan e successore del fratello Möngke in quanto Gran Khan dei mongoli, Kublai è anche noto come l'ultimo dei Gran Khan.Appartenne a una famiglia di condottieri, conquistatori e sovrani mongoli: suo fratello Hülegü conquistò infatti la Persia fondando l'Ilkhanato, e anche suo cugino Kaidu, figlio del secondo Gran Khan Ögödei, fu un importante condottiero mongolo e acerrimo oppositore dello stesso Kublai Khan per tutta la vita.
