Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is Malaysia's main international airport and is situated in Sepang district, in the south of the state of Selangor, about 50 km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. Built at a cost of some US$3.5 billion, KLIA was opened on 27 June 1998.Kuala Lumpur International Airport operates around-the-clock and can handle 35 million passengers and 1.2 million tonnes of cargo a year.
