Croatia , officially the Republic of Croatia (Republika Hrvatska ), is a country at the crossroads of the Mediterranean, Central Europe, and the Balkans. Its capital is Zagreb. Croatia borders with Slovenia and Hungary to the north, Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the east, Montenegro to the far southeast, and the Adriatic Sea to the south. Croatia is a candidate for membership of the European Union and NATO.

La Croatie ( en croate : Hrvatska) ou République de Croatie (en croate : Republika Hrvatska ) est un État d'Europe du Sud qui s'étend de l'extrémité orientale des Alpes, sur ses confins au nord-ouest et des plaines pannoniennes au nord-est, jusqu'au littoral de la mer Adriatique au sud, en passant par le massif montagneux des Alpes Dinariques au centre. Chorwacja (Republika Chorwacka) – państwo w Europie Południowej, nad Morzem Adriatyckim, graniczy od południa z Bośnią i Hercegowiną i Czarnogórą, od wschodu z Serbią oraz Węgrami i Słowenią od północy. Od południowego zachodu posiada dostęp do Morza Adriatyckiego. Niepodległość odzyskała w 1991 roku, odłączając się od Jugosławii.

La Croazia è uno stato dell'Europa centrale con una popolazione di 4.494.749 abitanti (stima 2006), la sua capitale è Zagabria (Zagreb, 779.145 ab. - dato del 2001).Confina a nord con la Slovenia, a nord-est con l'Ungheria, ad est con la Serbia, a sud con la Bosnia ed Erzegovina e il Montenegro, mentre a ovest è affacciata al mare Adriatico. La superficie territoriale è di 56.542 km² mentre la superficie delle acque territoriali è pari a 31.067 km². La Repubblica della Croazia è una repubblica parlamentare. La lingua ufficiale è il croato. La Regione Istriana, comprendente la maggior parte dell'Istria, adotta ufficialmente il bilinguismo (italiano e croato), ma la sua attuazione varia a livello comunale.
