This article is mainly about the spoken Korean language. See Hangul for details on the native Korean writing system. Korean (, see below) is the official language of both North Korea and South Korea. It is also one of the two official languages in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in China. There are about 80 million Korean speakers, with large groups in various Post-Soviet states, as well as in other diaspora populations in China, Australia, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan, and more recently, the Philippines.

Le coréen est la langue officielle de la Corée, ou plutôt, des Corées, celle du Nord et celle du Sud. Die koreanische Sprache (Koreanisch) wird hauptsächlich in Korea (Nord- und Südkorea) von mehr als 78 Mio.  Menschen gesprochen, von denen die meisten Koreaner sind.Die lokalen Namen sind in Südkorea hangungmal oder hangugeo (Hangeul: , Hanja: ), in Nordkorea hingegen chosonmal oder chosono (, ). Die unterschiedlichen Namen kommen von der in Nordkorea und Südkorea jeweils üblichen Bezeichnung für das Land.

Język koreański – język o nieustalonym pochodzeniu, prawdopodobnie jest językiem izolowanym. Według niektórych teorii łączony z językami ałtajskimi lub ajnuskim. Używany jest głównie w Korei Południowej oraz Północnej, a także w sąsiadującej z Koreą Północną chińskiej prowincji Yanbian. Na świecie językiem tym posługuje się ok. 78 milionów ludzi, włączając w to duże skupiska w republikach dawnego Związku Radzieckiego, USA, Kanadzie, Brazylii i Japonii.

La lingua coreana è parlata da circa 78 milioni di persone nella penisola coreana. I nomi locali sono: Chosŏnŏ (Hangŭl 조선어, Hanja 朝鮮語) o Chosŏnmal 조선말 (朝鮮말) in Corea del Nord anche Hangugŏ 한국어 (韓國語) o Hangugmal 한국말 (韓國말) in Corea del Sud. I diversi nomi derivano dalle diverse denominazioni della Corea del Nord o della Corea del Sud per il loro paese.
