Diet of Japan
The is Japan's bicameral legislature composed of a lower house, the House of Representatives and an upper house, the House of Councillors. Both houses of the Diet are directly elected under a parallel voting system. As well as passing laws, the Diet is formally responsible for selecting the Prime Minister. The Diet was first convened as the Imperial Diet in 1889 as a result from adopting the Meiji constitution. The Diet took its current form in 1947 upon the adoption of the post World War II constitution and is considered by the Constitution to be the highest organ of state power. The National Diet Building is located in NagatachōChiyoda-kuTokyo.

Kokkai
Kokkai (jap. , dt. „Reichstag, -versammlung“) ist das aus zwei Kammern bestehende japanische Parlament.Das nationale Parlamentsgebäude (, Kokkai-gijido) steht in Nagata-cho, ChiyodaTokio. Nachdem die Meiji-Verfassung in Kraft getreten war, trat das Parlament erstmals am 29. November 1890 zusammen. Das Parlament wurde nach den Vorbildern des kaiserlich-deutschen Reichstags und des britischen Parlaments geformt.

Dieta Nacional do Japão (国会 kokkai) ou apenas Dieta, é o nome do órgão do poder legislativo bicameral do Japão, composto de uma câmara alta, a Casa dos Representantes e uma câmara baixa, a Casa dos Conselheiros, localizada na capitalTóquio. As duas casas tem seus representantes eleitos por um sistema de votação paralela. Além da função constitucional de discussão e aprovação das leis do país, a Dieta também é formalmente responsável pela eleição dos primeiros-ministros japoneses.
