Kohlenstoffdioxid (im normalen Sprachgebrauch auch Kohlendioxid, oft fälschlich Kohlensäure genannt) ist eine chemische Verbindung aus Kohlenstoff und Sauerstoff und gehört damit neben Kohlenstoffmonoxid (auch Kohlenmonoxid), Kohlenstoffsuboxid und dem instabilen Kohlenstofftrioxid zur Gruppe der Kohlenstoffoxide.
