Kohen (or Kohain; , "priest", pl. Kohanim) is the Hebrew word for priest. Jewish Kohanim are traditionally believed and halachically required to be of direct patrilineal descent from the Biblical Aaron.

Die Kohanim ([] (hebräisch כהנים, Plural von Kohen ([], hebräisch כהן), deutsch Priester) sind eine Untergruppe der Leviten, des priesterlichen Stammes unter den Zwölf Stämmen Israels. Sie gelten als direkte Nachfahren Aarons, der ein Bruder des Mose war.

D'après la Bible (Torah), Cohen (héb. כהן, plur. cohanim, litt. "dédié, dévoué") est un titre conféré à Aaron, le frère de Moïse de la tribu de Lévi, et à sa descendance masculine, afin de les désigner comme "dévoués" (sens originel de כהן) au service du Temple. Il s'agit donc des membres du clergé hébreu, qui réalisaient les sacrifices et autres services dans le Temple de Jérusalem, sous l'autorité du Cohen Gadol (Grand Prêtre). Le premier Cohen Gadol fut Aaron lui-même.
Le Cohen Gadol tenait un rôle particulier, notamment dans l'office de Yom Kippour.

Kohen är en beteckning på personer med en särskild status inom judendomen. Kohen är en manlig ättling i rakt nedstigande led från Aron, bror till den bibliske Mose. Arons ättlingar kan också benämnas aroniter eller aronider.
