It existed from roughly 930s BCE until about 720s BCE. This article follows its history until its final destruction by the Assyrian Empire, and considers the fate of its population and territory following its destruction.

Das Königreich Israel existierte nach traditioneller Auffassung, vor allem biblischer Überlieferung, von etwa 1010 v. Chr. bis 926 v. Chr., unter den Königen Saul, David und Salomo. Es teilte sich später auf in das Nordreich Israel und das südliche Reich Juda. Inzwischen bezweifeln einige Archäologen und Historiker die Existenz des Reiches, während eine größere Zahl von Gelehrten annimmt, es habe das Reich Davids zwar gegeben, doch mit einer weitaus geringeren Ausdehnung und Bedeutung, als die Bibel im Rückblick behauptet. Diese Thesen werden in der Forschung jedoch intensiv diskutiert, ein Konsens existiert nicht.

Het Koninkrijk Israël is de benaming van het Tienstammenrijk dat volgens de Hebreeuwse Bijbel (1 Koningen 12 en 2 Kronieken 10) ontstond na de regering van koning Salomo in Kanaän, toen het tussen 1200-1100 v.Chr. veroverde gebied van Israël uiteenviel. Het andere deel was Juda, ook wel het Tweestammenrijk geheten.

O Reino de Israel (em hebraico מַלְכוּת יִשְׂרָאֵל ou ), de acordo com a Bíblia, foi a nação formada pelas 12 Tribos de Israel, um povo descendente de Jacó, Isaac e Abraão. O reino surge em meados do séc. XI a.c. na sequência da unificação das 12 tribos sob a chefia de Saul, seu 1º rei.Após o Êxodo do Egipto, sob a liderança de Moisés,os israelitas que eram nómadas vaguearam pelo médio oriente durante décadas até que no final do sec. XIII a.C. sob a liderança de Josué os israelitas conquistam a terra de Canaã, abandonam o nomadismo e estabelecem-se nas terras conquistadas, dividindo o território entre as 12 tribos.
