Kikwit

Kikwit is a city lying on the Kwilu River in the south western Democratic Republic of Congo. The population is approximately 149000. An important commercial and administrative centre, it is home to a stadium and is known for its traditional dances, in particular the BaPende dancers whose geographic origin centers around the village of Gungu in present-day Bandundu Province. Bapende dancers often wear traditional costumes comprising colorful masks and attire made from raffia. Kikwit is also home to an airport.

Kikwit - miasto w południowo-zachodniej Demokratycznej Republice Konga, stolica prowincji Kwilu, port nad rzeką Kuilu. Ośrodek handlowo-usługowy dla okolicznych terenów rolniczych (uprawa głownie palmy oleistej i kawy) oraz przemysłu przetwórstwa spożywczego. W mieście znajduje się stadion i mały port lotniczy. Kikwit is een stad in het zuidwesten van de Democratische Republiek Congo (provincie Bandundu), gelegen naast de Kwilu rivier. Het is een commercieel en administratief centrum en heeft een stadion en een vliegveld. De stad is ook bekend vanwege haar traditionele dansen. In 1995 brak het Ebolavirus hier uit.De VN heeft hier een bemande post.

Kikwit es una ciudad ubicada en la República Democrática del Congo, en la región sur oeste. Sus coordenadas geográficas son . Con la aprobación de la nueva constitución de la RDC, la ciudad pasó a ser la capital de la nueva provincia de Kwilu. Tiene una población aproximada de 249.000 habitantes (2004). Es un importante centro comercial y administrativo, ya que está ubicado en las orillas del río Kwilo. Cuenta con un estadio (centro caracterizado por danzas tradicionales) y un aeropuerto. En 1995 la ciudad fue afectada por un brote del virus Ébola.
