Kermit (protocol)
Kermit is a computer file transfer/management protocol and a set of communications software tools primarily used in the early years of personal computing in the 1980s; it provides a consistent approach to file transfer, terminal emulation, script programming, and character set conversion across many different computer hardware and OS platforms.

Kermit
Kermit ist ein Programmpaket zur Datenübertragung zwischen verschiedenen Rechnern. Es wurde nach Kermit dem Frosch aus der Muppet Show benannt. Das Programm wird an der Columbia University in New York entwickelt und dort auch weiter gepflegt.

Kermit
Kermit - popularny, zorientowany pakietowo protokół w Columbia University.
Służył do transferu plików tekstowych i binarnych przez 7- lub 8-bitowe połączenia szeregowe w trybie dupleksu lub półdupleksu, niezależnie od systemu i medium. Został zaimplementowany w setkach modeli komputerów i na wielu platformach operacyjnych.
W trybie dupleksu protokół z przesuwnym oknem i selektywną retransmisją zapewnia dobrą wydajność i usuwanie błędów. W 7-bitowych połączeniach blokowanie przesunięcia zapewnia efektywną transmisję 8-bitowych danych.
