Kemal Unakıtan is Minister of Finance of
Turkey and a Member of Parliament for
Istanbul of the ruling
AKP.He was formerly a board member of the Family Finance Group. In his time as minister of finance he has presided over a number of situations primarily the Treasury's need to raise funds in a time when Turkey has a large national debt and is failing to collect taxes to cover it. Unakıtan has therefore had totry to sell forestry land to raise funds for the treasuryraise fuel duties and other indirect taxation plusextra duties and payments such as his "permanent earthquake fund"
