Kattegat

The Kattegat (Danish), or Kattegatt (Swedish) is a sea area bounded by Jutland (Denmark) and Sweden. The Baltic Sea drains into the Kattegat through the Oresund and the Danish Straits. The Kattegat is a continuation of the Skagerrak and may be seen as either a bay of the Baltic Sea, a bay of the North Sea, or, in traditional Scandinavian usage, none of these.

Das Kattegat (niederländisch: „Katzenloch“, dänische Aussprache []) ist das 22.000 km² große Meeresgebiet zwischen Jütland (Dänemark) und der schwedischen Westküste. Il Kattegat (in danese Kattegatt) è un tratto di mare che si trova fra la Svezia e la penisola danese dello Jutland.Il Kattegat rappresenta il prolungamento dello Skagerrak ed è collegato con il mar Baltico tramite tre stretti: l'Oresund, il Piccolo Belt e il Grande Belt.È collegato con il mare del Nord tramite lo Skagerrak e il Limfjord, quest'ultimo è percorribile però solo da imbarcazioni di piccole dimensioni.
