Kadmos

Cadmus, or Kadmos (Greek: Κάδμος), in Greek mythology, was the son of Agenor and the brother of Phoenix, Cilix and Europa. He is the grandfather of the Greek god Dionysus, through his daughter Semele. Cadmus founded the city of Thebes, and its acropolis was originally named Cadmeia in his honor. Cadmus was credited by the Hellenes with the introduction of the Phoenician alphabet, phoinikeia grammata. Herodotus who gives this account estimates that Cadmus lived sixteen hundred years before his time, or around 2000 B.C. According to Greek myth, Cadmus' descendants ruled at Thebes on-and-off for several generations, including the time of the Trojan War. Dans la mythologie grecque, Cadmos (en grec ancien  / Kádmos), fils d'Agénor (roi de Tyr en Phénicie) et de Téléphassa, est le fondateur légendaire de la cité de Thèbes (en Béotie). Les Grecs ont crédité Cadmos de l'introduction en Grèce de l'alphabet phénicien, ("phoinikeia grammata"). Hérodote, qui rapporte ce fait, estime que Cadmos a vécu environ 1600 ans avant lui, soit vers 2000 av. JC.

Kadmos. Zeitschrift für vor- und frühgriechische Epigraphik ist eine fachwissenschaftliche Zeitschrift auf dem Gebiet der griechischen Epigraphik.Im Kadmos werden Aufsätze und kleinere Beiträge zu Themen der frühen griechischen Epigraphik veröffentlicht. Der behandelte Zeitraum reicht von den frühen Zeugnissen griechischer Schriftkultur in inschriftlicher Form in Linear A- und Linear B-Schrift über die archaische Alphabetschrift bis in die Zeit der griechischen Expansion. Die klassische Zeit des antiken Griechentums und spätere Epochen werden nicht mehr berücksichtigt. Geografische Grenzen werden hingegen nicht gesetzt, von Interesse ist der gesamte Mittelmeerraum. Im Kadmos werden häufig Berichte über Neufunde publiziert. Beiträge zu bekannten Inschriften werden nicht ausgeschlossen, Beiträge über neuere Inschriften jedoch bevorzugt.

Wykonując to zadanie założył w Beocji Kadmeę, późniejsze Teby.Żona Kadmosa, Harmonia, córka Aresa i Afrodyty, otrzymała od rodziców jako wiano naszyjnik i piękną suknię (zobacz też: siedmiu przeciw Tebom; Amfiaraos).

Cadmo è una figura della mitologia greca, fondatore di Tebe.Era figlio di Agenore re di Tiro e di Telefassa e fratello di  Europa.Quando la sorella Europa venne rapita da Zeus, il padre Agenore lo inviò coi fratelli  Fenice e Cilice, alla sua ricerca, ordinando di non tornare prima d'averla trovata.
