Kadarka is an old red winegrapevarietal, most popular in Hungary, where it was introduced with the Turkish occupation. It is an important constituent of the Hungarian red cuvée Bull's Blood of Eger or Szekszárd. Probably originating from Albania region, it is recently also cultivated in Bulgaria, where it has been previously known as Gamza. It is also grown in most other eastern European countries where it is sometimes known as Cadarka or Skadarska.
