KDE

KDE (K Desktop Environment) is a free software project which aims to be a powerful system for an easy-to-use desktop environment. The goal of the project is to provide basic desktop functions and applications for daily needs as well as tools and documentation for developers to write stand-alone applications for the system. In this regard the KDE project serves as an umbrella project for many standalone applications and smaller projects that are based on KDE technology, such as KOffice, KDevelop, Amarok, K3b and many more.

Die K Desktop Environment (KDE; auf Deutsch K-Arbeitsumgebung) ist eine frei verfügbare Arbeitsumgebung, das heißt eine grafische Benutzeroberfläche mit vielen Zusatzprogrammen für den täglichen Gebrauch. Diese ist vorrangig für Computer gedacht, auf denen ein Unix-ähnliches Betriebssystem läuft, wie z. B.  BSD, Linux oder Solaris. Die Version 3 kann mit Cygwin auch unter Windows und mit Fink auch unter Mac OS X betrieben werden. Seit Version 4 kann KDE-Software prinzipiell auch nativ unter Windows und Mac OS X genutzt werden, die Entwickler planen eine stabile Version von KDE für Windows und von KDE für Mac OS X für KDE 4.1 <ref name=KDE41ReleaseGoals">KDE Projekt-Wiki: KDE4/4.1 Release Goals auf techbase.kde.org, abgerufen 9. KDE (K Desktop Environment) - środowisko graficzne zrealizowane jako wolne oprogramowanie dla systemów operacyjnych Unix i GNU/Linux. Zawiera bogaty system bibliotek do tworzenia aplikacji w środowisku graficznym. Obok GNOME jest jednym z dwóch najpopularniejszych uniksowych środowisk graficznych. Początkowo projekt nosił nazwę Kool Desktop Environment.

KDE (K Desktop Environment) è, come recita la pagina di benvenuto della sua documentazione, un ambiente desktop grafico per postazioni di lavoro Unix.È basato sulle librerie Qt di Trolltech (rilasciate con licenza GPL o proprietaria) e funziona sulla maggior parte dei sistemi operativi di tipo Unix, come GNU/Linux e le distribuzioni BSD. Esistono anche delle versioni funzionanti su Microsoft Windows tramite Cygwin e può essere installato anche su Mac OS X utilizzando X11. L'ultima versione disponibile è la (rilasciata ) ed è stato tradotto in più di cinquanta lingue.
