Jon Postel

Jonathan Bruce Postel (; 6 August 1943 – 16 October 1998) made many significant contributions to the development of the Internet, particularly in the area of standards. He is principally known for being the Editor of the Request for Comment (RFC) document series, and for serving as the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority until his death. The Internet Society's Postel Award is named in his honor, as is the Postel Center at Information Sciences Institute.

Jon Postel (6 sierpnia 1943 - 16 października 1998), pełne nazwisko Jonathan Bruce Postel to jeden z najważniejszych twórców Internetu oraz jeden z najbardziej zasłużonych w historii hakerów.Studiował na Uniwersytecie Kalifornijskim w Los Angeles, uzyskał tytuł bakałarza (BSc) (odpowiednik polskiego licencjatu) w 1966 i magistra nauk przyrodnicznych (MSc) w 1968. W 1974 roku doktoryzował się z informatyki. W czasie swych podyplomowych zajęć u prof. Leonarda Kleinrocka wraz z Vintem Cerfem znalazł się w zespole odpowiedzialnym za sieć ARPANET. Od 1977 roku pracownik Uniwersytetu Południowej Kalifornii (USC).
