Jokasta

In Greek mythology, Jocasta, also known as Iocaste (Iοκαστη) or Epikastê was a daughter of Menocenes and Queen consort of Thebes, Greece. She was the wife of Laius. Mother of Oedipus by Laius, and mother of Antigone, Eteocles, Polynices and Ismene by Oedipus. She was also sister of Creon.Her husband, King Laius of Thebes, consulted an oracle when she was pregnant with Oedipus. The oracle told Laius that the child was destined to kill his father and marry his own mother. Laius left the child on a mountain to die after mounting his ankle to the cliff. He was found by a shepherd and sent to King Polybus and Queen Merope of Corinth,via a messenger.

Dans la mythologie grecque, Jocaste, Iocaste (en grec ancien  / Iokástê) ou Épicaste ( / Epikástê) dans l'Odyssée, fille de Ménécée et sœur de Créon, est l'épouse de Laïos puis de son propre fils, Œdipe, de qui elle aura quatre enfants, deux garçons (Étéocle et Polynice) et deux filles (Antigone et Ismène). Elle se pend lorsqu'elle apprend la vérité des liens l'unissant à Œdipe.

Iokaste (auch: Jokaste oder Epikaste, altgriech. ) ist eine Gestalt aus der griechischen Mythologie. Sie war die Frau des Laios und nach dessen Tod in zweiter Ehe mit ihrem Sohn Ödipus verheiratet, mit dem sie zwei Söhne (Eteokles, Polyneikes) und zwei Töchter (Antigone und Ismene) in die Welt setzte. In Homers Werk wird Iokaste als Epikaste bezeichnet.

Jokasta (gr. Iokaste) w mitologii greckiej żona króla Teb Lajosa. Matka, a później, po śmierci Lajosa, żona Edypa. Była siostrą Kreona. Według mitu Edyp został wyrzucony z domu w niemowlęctwie, ponieważ prorok ogłosił, że Edyp popełni ojcobójstwo i ożeni się z matką. Przygarnęli go pasterze. Po jakimś czasie Edyp powraca, zabija ojca i poślubia Jokastę, nie wiedząc o swoim pochodzeniu. Z tego związku rodzą się dwaj synowie: Polinejkes i Eteokles , oraz dwie córki: Antygona i Ismena. Kiedy wieszcz Tejrezjasz wyjawia obojgu prawdę, Jokasta popełnia samobójstwo, a Edyp wykłuwa oczy i opuszcza miasto.
