The Joint Commission, until 2007 the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO, pronounced "jay-co"), is a United States-based non-profit organization formed in 1951 with a mission to maintain and elevate the standards of health care delivery through evaluation and accreditation of health care organizations.
