John Donald Wade

John Donald Wade (September 28, 1892 - October 9, 1963) was an American biographer, author, essayist, and teacher.Wade was born in Marshallville, Georgia. His father was a country doctor. Wade was descended from the first Governor of Georgia.Wade received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia in 1914 and a Master's degree from Harvard University in 1915. He completed his Doctorate at Columbia University in 1924. He served in World War I and served as a teacher at the University of Georgia between 1919 and 1926 where he was a key founder of the graduate program in American literature.
