[Japanese] Jingu are shrines that are somehow associated with the imperial family of Japan, such as Ise Jingu, where Amaterasu Ohmikami is enshinred. Jinja are everyday shrines not associated with the imperial family. They are governed by Jinja Honcho, the Association of Shinto Shrines.
