A jing ping is a kind of folk music ensemble from Dominica, also known colloquially as an accordion band. In Dominican folk music, jing ping bands accompany a circle dance called the flirtation, as well as the Dominican quadrille.Jing bands are composed of a boumboum (boom pipe), syak or gwaj (scraper-rattle), tambal or tanbou (tambourine) and accordion. Less commonly, double bass and banjo are also used. The accordion replaced bamboo flutes in the 1940s.On modern Dominica, jing ping has become a part of popular music through bouyon music.
