Jiangsu

(; Postal map spelling: Kiangsu) is a province of the People's Republic of China, located along the east coast of the country. The name comes from jiang, short for the city of Jiangning (now Nanjing), and su, for the city of Suzhou. The abbreviation for this province is "苏" (sū), the second character of its name. Jiangsu borders Shandong in the north, Anhui to the west, and Zhejiang and Shanghai to the south. Jiangsu has a coastline of over one thousand kilometers along the Yellow Sea, and the Yangtze River passes through its southern parts.

Le Jiangsu (pinyin : jiangsu ; EFEO : Kiang-sou) est une province côtière chinoise située directement au Nord de Shanghai. Elle compte 75 millions d'habitants. Sa capitale, Nankin, ville de plus de 6 millions d'habitants, et d'importance historique considérable est considérée comme la capitale de la Chine par le gouvernement taïwanais. Le Jiangsu est la cinquième province chinoise par la population et la deuxième pour le PIB total. Les disparités économiques internes et externes sont considérables: certaines villes du Sud, telles Suzhou, sont deux fois plus riches que la moyenne provinciale.

Jiangsu ist eine Provinz im Osten der Volksrepublik China, am Gelben Meer gelegen. Jiangsu liegt im Mündungsbereich des Chang Jiang (Jangtsekiang). Der chinesische Kurzname ist Su. Der Name Jiangsu leitet sich von den Namen der beiden Präfekturen ab, aus deren Zusammenfassung Jiangsu 1667 hervorging: Jiangning (das heutige Nanjing) und Suzhou.
