A Jewish holiday or Jewish Festival is a day or series of days observed by Jews as a holy or secular commemoration of an important event in Jewish history. In Hebrew, Jewish holidays and festivals, depending on their nature, may be called yom tov ("good day") or chag ("festival") or ta'anit ("fast").

Święta żydowskieŻydowski kalendarz świąt rozpoczyna dziesięć Strasznych Dni, przeznaczonych na pokutę. Rozpoczyna je żydowski Nowy Rok czyli Rosz ha-Szana, który jest również nazywany Dniem Sądu - w niebie otwierane są księgi i każde stworzenie jest oceniane. Tego dnia dmie się w róg barani szofar, który symbolizuje trąbę, która zabrzmi na końcu czasów w Dniu Sądu. Okres pokuty kończy Jom Kippur, czyli Dzień Pojednania.

La religione ebraica prescrive numerose festività (chagim in ebraico, plurale della parola chag che significa festa) intese come giorni in cui si ricorda un avvenimento particolare o un particolare momento dell'anno. Il termine festività non deve però far pensare che tutte queste ricorrenze siano felici. Molte, infatti, sono digiuni a ricordo di momenti tragici nella vita del popolo ebraico. Le festività possono essere divise in vari gruppi a seconda della loro importanza.
