A Jew (Hebrew: יְהוּדִי, Yehudi (sl.); , Yehudim (pl.); Ladino: ג׳ודיו, Djudio (sl.); ג׳ודיוס, Djudios (pl.); Yiddish: ייִד, Yid (sl.); , Yidn (pl.)) is a member of the Jewish people, an ethnic group originating in the Israelites or Hebrews of the ancient Middle East. The ethnicity and the religion of Judaism, the traditional faith of the Jewish nation, are strongly interrelated, and converts to Judaism are both included and have been absorbed within the Jewish people throughout the millennia.

Als Juden (hebr. , transliteriert Jehudim) bezeichnet man sowohl die Angehörigen des jüdischen Volkes als auch der jüdischen Religion. Unter dem „jüdischen Volk“ werden sowohl das historische Volk der Israeliten als auch dem jüdischen Selbstverständnis gemäß alle Juden verstanden, die nach der Tora von den Erzvätern Abraham, Isaak und Jakob abstammen. Deren Verheißungsgeschichte hat nach alle Völker segnenden, sie einbeziehenden Charakter: Wer von einer jüdischen Mutter geboren ist, gilt im Talmud daher ebenso als Jude wie der, der zu diesem Glauben übergetreten ist, unabhängig von seiner Herkunft. Der Begriff des jüdischen Volkes im zweiten Sinne meint nicht ein ethnisch einheitliches Nationalvolk mit geschlossenem Siedlungsraum, einer gemeinsamen Geschichte, Sprache und Kultur, welches durch die jüdische Diaspora zerfiel.

Żydzi, (hebr. Jehudim, יהודים, jid. Jidn, ייִדן, ladino ג׳ודיוס Djudios) – naród wywodzący się od plemion semickich, zamieszkujących Palestynę, określanych jako Hebrajczycy albo Izraelici, posługujący się początkowo językiem hebrajskim. Pierwotnie wchodzili oni prawdopodobnie w skład grupy Habiru, którą w II tysiącleciu p.n.e. tworzyły ludy przybyłe do Syropalestyny z obszarów Mezopotamii. Uważa się, iż termin Hebrajczycy pochodzi właśnie od nazwy Habiru. Podstawą tożsamości narodu żydowskiego była religia narodowa - judaizm oraz kultura żydowska.
