JetStream and Mobile JetStream are two former brand names used by Telecom New Zealand to market its retail and resale ADSL-based fixed line and CDMA2000-based 3G wireless Internet access offerings respectively. The retail ADSL offering from its own Internet service provider (ISP), Xtra, is now more commonly referred to by the company as Xtra Broadband, though the JetStream brand is still in use.

Jet streams are fast flowing, narrow air currents found in the atmospheres of some planets, including Earth. The main jet streams are located near the tropopause, the transition between the troposphere (where temperature decreases with altitude) and the stratosphere (where temperature increases with altitude). The major jet streams on Earth are westerly winds (flowing west to east). Their paths typically have a meandering shape; jet streams may start, stop, split into two or more parts, combine into one stream, or flow in various directions including the opposite direction of most of the jet. The strongest jet streams are the Polar jets, at around above sea level, and the higher and somewhat weaker Subtropical jets at around . The Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere each have both a polar jet and a subtropical jet. The northern hemisphere polar jet flows over the middle to northern latitudes of North America, Europe, and Asia and their intervening oceans, while the southern hemisphere polar jet mostly circles Antarctica all year round.

Ein Jetstream (engl. ) oder Strahlstrom ist ein schmales Starkwindband im Bereich der oberen Troposphäre bis zur Stratosphäre. Jetstreams bilden sich infolge globaler Ausgleichsbewegungen zwischen verschiedenen Temperaturregionen bzw. Hoch- und Tiefdruckgebieten und stellen die stärksten natürlich auftretenden Winde dar, wobei sie im Vergleich zu anderen Wetterphänomenen sehr verlässlich und stabil in ihrem Auftreten sind. Allgemeiner definiert handelt es sich um atmosphärische Windbänder mit einer nahezu horizontalen Strömungsachse (Jetachse) und Windgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 150 m/s (540 km/h), wobei die Windgeschwindigkeit – sowohl vertikal als auch horizontal – mit zunehmender Entfernung zum Strömungszentrum rasch abfällt. Sie gehören näherungsweise zur Gruppe der geostrophischen Winde, bei welchen ein Gleichgewicht zwischen Druckgradient- und Corioliskraft herrscht.

Un courant-jet (en anglais : ) est un flux d'air rapide et confiné que l'on trouve dans l'atmosphère à des altitudes comprises entre 6 et 15 km, juste au-dessous de la tropopause dans la troposphère. De bildas på gränsen mellan angränsande luftmassor med betydande temperaturskillnader, som mellan polarregionerna och den varmare luften kring ekvatorn. Vid sällsynta tillfällen är jetströmmen synlig från marken, den kan ses som en cirka 10 km bred kondensstrimma som sträcker sig över himlen i väst-östlig riktning.
