Jerusalem
Jerusalem (; ; and/or ) is the capital of Israel, though not internationally recognized as such, and one of the oldest cities in the world. It is located in the Judean Mountains, between the Mediterranean Sea and the northern edge of the Dead Sea. If the area and population of East Jerusalem is included, it is Israel's largest city in both population and area, with a population of 801,000 residents over an area of . Jerusalem is also a holy city to the three major Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Jérusalem
Jérusalem is a grand opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi, set to a French libretto by Alphonse Royer and Gustave Vaëz which was partly translated and adapted from Verdi's original 1843 Italian opera, I Lombardi alla prima crociata. It was Verdi's first commission from the Opéra de Paris, and there are significant changes in the location and action of the French version, especially given the need to locate them in a French context.

Jerusalem
Jerusalem (hebräisch Jeruschalajim, altgriechisch , lateinisch Hierosolyma, al-Quds (asch-Scharif) ‚die Heilige‘, türkisch Kudüs) ist die Hauptstadt des Staates Israel. Sie liegt in den Judäischen Bergen zwischen Mittelmeer und Totem Meer und hat 770.000 Einwohner. Dort befinden sich der Sitz des israelischen Präsidenten, die Knesset, Einrichtungen der Judikative und Exekutive Israels, die 1918 gegründete Hebräische Universität und die Holocaustgedenkstätte Yad Vashem.

Jérusalem ist Giuseppe Verdis erste französische Grand opéra mit Balletteinlage. Jérusalem entstand als Umarbeitung der Oper I Lombardi alla prima Crociata und besteht wie das Original aus vier Akten. Die Uraufführung in französischer Sprache fand am 26. November 1847 an der Académie Royale de Musique in Paris statt. Die Librettisten Alphonse Royer und Gustave Vaëz übersetzten weitgehend das Ursprungslibretto von Temistocle Solera, unterlegten aber eine neue Handlung, indem sie die Hauptpersonen historisierten und zu Franzosen machten. Verdi komponierte viele Teile neu, sodass Jérusalem als eigenständiges Werk gilt.

Jérusalem
Jérusalem (ou Salem, également nommée Hiérosolyme ou Solyme en ancien français ; ירושלים Yerushaláyim en hébreu [dénomination israélienne officielle] ; al Quds pour les arabophones musulmans ou اورشليم Ûrshalîm pour les arabophones chrétiens) est une ville du Proche-Orient qui tient une place prépondérante dans les religions juive, chrétienne et musulmane, et dans le sentiment national israélien. L'État d'Israël a proclamé Jérusalem unifiée comme étant sa « capitale éternelle ». Cette désignation n'est pas reconnue par la communauté internationale. Jérusalem-Est, considérée comme un territoire occupé, est également revendiquée comme capitale d'un éventuel futur État palestinien.

Jérusalem (en italien Gerusalemme) est un opéra en quatre actes de Giuseppe Verdi sur un livret d'Alphonse Royer et Gustave Vaëz adapté des Lombardi alla prima crociata de Temistocle Solera, et créé en français à l'Académie royale de musique de Paris le 26 novembre 1847 puis en italien à La Scala de Milan le 26 décembre 1847.

Jerusalem, właściwie And did those feet in ancient time - poemat Williama Blake'a ze wstępu do dzieła Milton: A Poem (1804). Dziś znany bardziej właśnie jako hymn Jerusalem, z muzyką Charlesa Huberta Hastingsa Parry'ego, napisaną w 1916 r.
Wiersz został opublikowany w 1916 r. w patriotycznej antologii poezji jako próba przezwyciężenia upadku morale w związku z rosnącą liczbą ofiar brytyjskich żołnierzy na froncie I wojny światowej oraz brakiem perspektyw jej szybkiego zakończenia. Do tej pory poemat nie był zbyt znany. Dla wielu definiował on cele, o jakie walczyła Brytania, dlatego Parry został poproszony o stworzenie jego muzycznej wersji na spotkanie kampanii Fight for Right w londyńskim Royal Albert Hall. Najpopularniejsza wersja została zaaranżowana przez Edwarda Elgara w 1922 r. na festiwalu w Leeds. Jest ona uznawana za jedną z najbardziej popularnych brytyjskich piosenek patriotycznych, często używana alternatywnie jako hymn państwowy. Hymn ten uznaje się za bardzo nacjonalistyczny, chrześcijański i socjalistyczny zarazem. Partia Pracy użyła go w 1945 r. jako sloganu wyborczego (Clement Atlee zapowiadał wówczas, że Anglicy zbudują drugie Jeruzalem).
