Jeremiah
Jeremiah (, Arabic: 'Eremia' (ارمیا) ) was one of the 'greater prophets' of the Hebrew Bible. He was the son of Hilkiah, a priest of Anathoth. His writings are collected in the book of Jeremiah and, according to tradition, the Book of Lamentations. Jeremiah is also famous as "the broken-hearted prophet" (who wrote or dictated a "broken book", which has been difficult for scholars to put into chronological order), whose heart-rending life, and true prophecies of dire warning went largely unheeded by the people of Judah. God told Jeremiah, "You will go to them; but for their part, they will not listen to you".

Jeremiah
[Other] The second of the greater prophets, son of Hilkiah. His prophecies cover reigns of Josiah, Jehoiakim, and Zedekiah (628-586 BCE) and constitute the 24th book of the Old Testament. His prophecies are noted for boldness and beauty, and chiefly denunciative of Judah and her policy. He lived until the reign of Merodach, son of Nebuchadrezzar, and must have been about 90 years at that time. There is no exact record of his death. There are seven others in the Old Testament bearing the same name: 2 Kings 23:31; 1 Chronicles 12:4-13, 5:24; Nehemiah 10:2, 12:1,12,34; Jeremiah 35:3.
