Jehad

Jihad ( ), meaning "to strive" or "to struggle", in Arabic, is an Islamic term and a duty for Muslims. It appears frequently in the Quran and common usage as the idiomatic expression "striving in the way of God (al-jihad fi sabil Allah)". A minority among the Sunni scholars sometimes refer to this Islamic duty as the sixth pillar of Islam, though it occupies no such official status. In Twelver Shi'a Islam, however, Jihad is one of the 10 Practices of the Religion. Jihad requires Muslims to "struggle in the way of God" or "to struggle to improve one's self and/or society." Jihad is directed against the devil's inducements, aspects of one's own self, or against a visible enemy. The four major categories of jihad that are recognized are Jihad against one's own self (self-perfection), Jihad of the tongue, Jihad of the hand, and Jihad of the sword.

Jihad, djihad ou djihâd (arabe : jihad, , lutte) est un terme arabe faisant partie du vocabulaire de l'islam et signifiant « exercer une force », « tâcher » ou « combattre ». Il apparaît fréquemment dans le Coran, particulièrement dans l'expression « al-jihad bi anfousikoum » (Lutter contre les penchants de votre âme; Il est l'équivalent en français de l'expression se faire violence) ou « al-jihad fi sabil Allah » (combat sacré dans le chemin d’Allah). Le jihad invite les musulmans à combattre afin de s'améliorer ou d'améliorer la société. De nombreux savants musulmans interprètent le jihad comme une lutte dans un sens spirituel. La lutte contre son nefs, son âme, doit être quotidienne. C'est un effort constant qui doit mener à l'apaisement de son âme.

Im deutschen Sprachgebrauch ist „heiliger Krieg“ die inhaltliche Entsprechung dieses Begriffes, da damit ausgedrückt werden soll, daß Dschihad - der Kampf auf dem Wege Gottes - eine im Islam begründete religiöse Pflicht sowohl der Gemeinschaft als auch des Einzelnen bedeutet. Dieser Glaubenskampf dient der Expansion des islamischen Machtbereiches und dauert an - gemäß der islamischen Pflichtenlehre -, bis der Islam die beherrschende Religion wird. Auch kann dieser Kampf der Verteidigung des islamischen Staates (Kalifat) dienen.

W tradycji europejskiej termin ten często, choć nie do końca precyzyjnie tłumaczy się jako "święta wojna".W Koranie i muzułmańskiej tradycji dżihad oznacza wszelkie starania podejmowane w imię szerzenia i umacniania islamu: zarówno wewnętrzne zmagania wyznawcy, pokojowe propagowanie islamu, jak i nawracanie niewiernych.

Jihad ( جهاد) è una parola araba che deriva dalla radice <ǧ-h-d>" che significa "esercitare il massimo sforzo" o "combattere". La parola connota un ampio spettro di significati, dalla lotta interiore spirituale per attingere una perfetta fede fino alla guerra santa. In quanto termine istituzionale si raccomanda di conservare il genere maschile, originario arabo ("il" jihād), anche alla luce del suo primario significato letterale di "sforzo" o "impegno". Ciò consentirà inoltre di rendere invece femminile la parola ("la" jihād) quando si voglia parlare di un'organizzazione militante, tradizionalista o terrorista che faccia uso appropriato o strumentale di questo termine, intendendolo chiaramente come "guerra santa".
