One of the best left defenders in Europe. Very fast with a precise centarkick. He played for FC Hajduk Split, then for the Italian club Bari, Torino and Juventus. In summer of 1995. he was transferred to Betis from Sevilla. He was member of the Croatian National Team at the Euro '96 in England and WC '98 in France. Especially is memorable his first goal, for 1:0 lead, against Germany in Lyon at the quarter-final match in WC'98.
