Japon

Japan ( Nihon or Nippon, officially or "Nihon-koku") is an island country in East Asia. Located in the Pacific Ocean, it lies to the east of China, Korea and Russia, stretching from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north to the East China Sea in the south. The characters that make up Japan's name mean "sun-origin", which is why Japan is sometimes identified as the "Land of the Rising Sun".

Japonia (日本 – Nihon lub Nippon; 日本国 – Nihon-koku lub Nippon-koku) – państwo wyspiarskie leżące w Azji Wschodniej na Pacyfiku. Morze Japońskie oddziela kraj od kontynentu azjatyckiego. Archipelag Japoński rozciąga się od Wysp Nansei na południu do Hokkaido na północy i składa się z ok. 4 000 wysp. Największe z nich to: Honsiu, Hokkaido, Kiusiu i Sikoku.

Een japon is een jurk of jurkje voor vrouwen.De japon kwam onder invloed van Japanse traditionele zijden kleding, de Kimono, in de mode omstreeks 1920. Het woord japon is het Franse woord voor Japan.Oorspronkelijk was het een lange jurk uit één stuk tot op de enkels, gesneden om het figuur lang en slank te laten lijken. Later kwamen allerlei variaties in de mode.
