Jake Wade (baseball)
Jacob Fields (Jake) Wade (April 11912 - February 12006) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played for the Detroit Tigers (1936-1938), Boston Red Sox (1939[start]), St. Louis Browns (1939[end]), Chicago White Sox, (1942-1944), New York Yankees (1946) and Washington Senators (1946). Wade batted and threw left handed. He was nicknamed "Whistlin' Jake". His younger brother, Ben, was also a major league pitcher.
