Jacopo Tintoretto

Tintoretto (real name Jacopo Comin; September 29, 1518 - May 31, 1594) was one of the greatest painters of the Venetian school and probably the last great painter of the Italian Renaissance. In his youth he was also called Jacopo Robusti, as his father had defended the gates of Padua in a rather robust way against the imperial troops. His real name 'Comin' has only recently been discovered by Miguel Falomir, the curator of the Prado, Madrid, and was made public on the occasion of the retrospective of Tintoretto at the Prado in 2007. Comin translates to the spice cumin in the local language.

Jacopo Robusti, gen. Jacopo Tintoretto (* 29. September 1518 in Venedig; † 31. Mai 1594 ebenda), war ein italienischer Maler. Sein Name Il Tintoretto („das Färberlein“) ist vom Handwerk seines Vaters abgeleitet.Tintoretto war anfangs Schüler Tizians, schlug jedoch bald eine eigene Richtung ein, welche durch seinen Wahlspruch: „Von Michelangelo die Zeichnung, von Tizian die Farbe“ deutlich bezeichnet ist, wie in der Tat auch eine Anzahl seiner Werke das Streben zeigt, die Größe des florentinischen Stiles mit den Vorzügen seiner heimatlichen Schule zu verbinden.

Jacopo Tintoretto (właściwie Jacopo Robusti, ur. 29 września 1518 w Wenecji, zm. 31 maja 1594 tamże) - malarz włoski, manierysta. Jeden z głównych przedstawicieli szkoły weneckiej XVI wieku.W Wenecji tworzył cykle monumentalnych obrazów o tematyce religijnej, historycznej i biblijnej, w Scuola di S. Rocco (1564–1576, 1583–1587), w Pałacu Dożów (1562–1587), w Scuola di S. Marco (od 1548), w kościołach, m.in. S. Giorgio Maggiore (1592–1594). Wykształcił styl pełen dynamiki i dramatycznej ekspresji. W kompozycjach religijnych stosował niezwykłe efekty świetlne, układy diagonalne i skróty perspektywiczne. Malował też portrety (Doża Pietro Loredano 1567–1570, Portret weneckiego admirała, obecnie w Muzeum Narodowym w Warszawie.

Nella sua giovinezza fu anche nominato Jacopo Robusti, poiché il padre difese le porte di Padova in modo deciso ("robusto") contro le truppe imperiali. Il suo vero nome "Comin" è stato recentemente scoperto da Miguel Falomir, il curatore del museo del Prado di Madrid, ed è stato reso pubblico nell'occasione della retrospettiva di Tintoretto al Prado, aperta dal 29 gennaio 2007.
