Ein Java Archive (umgangssprachlich aufgrund der Dateiendung auch JAR-Datei genannt) ist eine ZIP-Datei, die zusätzliche Metadaten in einer Datei „META-INF/MANIFEST.MF“ enthalten kann. JARs werden vor allem zur Verteilung von Java-Klassenbibliotheken und -Programmen eingesetzt. Die Bezeichnung kann als Wortspiel mit dem englischen Wort Jar, deutsch „Gefäß“, verstanden werden.

Jar to forma ukształtowania terenu w postaci wydłużonego zagłębienia o wąskim dnie i stromych zboczach.Powstaje najczęściej w wyniku erozyjnego działania wody. Może też być formą wykształconą poprzez aktywność osuwisk. Zwykle jary są niewielką formą terenu, związaną z korytem potoku, lub o suchym dnie, które jedynie okresowo wypełnia się wodą podczas opadów. Jary najczęściej występują w lasach, na terenach o pewnym spadku, co sprzyja postępowaniu erozji.Są naturalnymi składnikami krajobrazu.
