Jad (toksyna) - każda substancja pochodzenia zwierzęcego, roślinnego lub bakteryjnego, która ma właściwości toksyczne lub hemolityczne dla innego organizmu. Jad jest zazwyczaj mieszaniną różnych związków chemicznych; może być wydzielany (lub wydalany) na zewnątrz (egzotoksyna) lub nie (endotoksyna). Een jad is een zilveren bladwijzer die in de synagoge wordt gebruikt tijdens het voorlezen uit de Thora. Hij wordt gebruikt uit eerbied voor de tekst.
