Another young Dane who has been laboured with comparisons with the Laudrup brothers, Jørgensen is showing the best form of his career with Serie A side Udinese Calcio. One particularly impressive sequence in the 1999/2000 season saw him score in five successive Serie A matches. He initially impressed for the Under-21 side, making 31 appearances and scoring nine goals. He finally graduated to the senior side just before the 1998 World Cup, and hit the headlines with a first-minute goal against Brazil. An attacking midfielder in every respect, he combines industry with the ability to beat defenders, and he packs a powerful shot. Nicknamed “The Computer” by his former manager Alberto Zaccheroni, Jørgenson is a player with a superlative footballing brain who can slot into any number of tactical frameworks. Having moved to Italy from AGF Aarhus, Jørgensen has been a regular at the Friuli ever since. His magic consists of creating chances for his team's forwards.
