Italy
Italy ( ), officially the Italian Republic or the Republic of Italy (), is a unitary parliamentary republic in south-central Europe. To the north, it borders France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia along the Alps. To the south, it consists of the entirety of the Italian Peninsula, Sicily, Sardinia–the two largest islands in the Mediterranean Sea–and many other smaller islands. The independent states of San Marino and the Vatican City are enclaves within Italy, while Campione d'Italia is an Italian exclave in Switzerland. The territory of Italy covers some and is influenced by a temperate seasonal climate. With 60.6 million inhabitants, it is the fifth most populous country in Europe, and the 23rd most populous in the world.

L’Italie (en italien Italia) est un pays d’Europe du Sud correspondant physiquement à une péninsule située au centre de la mer Méditerranée ainsi qu'aux deux plus grandes îles de cette mer, la Sicile et la Sardaigne. Elle est rattachée au reste du continent par le massif des Alpes.

Italien
Italien (italienska: Italia), officiellt Italienska Republiken (Repubblica italiana) grundades och erkändes 17 mars 1861. Italien är en republik i södra Europa bestående av den stövelformade Apenninska halvön, området närmast norr om denna halvö samt öarna Sardinien och Sicilien i Medelhavet. I norra Italien ligger bergskedjan Alperna, där landet gränsar till Frankrike, Schweiz, Österrike och Slovenien och maritimt med Kroatien, Bosnien och Hercegovina, Montenegro och Albanien över Adriatiska havet. De självständiga staterna Vatikanstaten och San Marino är enklaver inom Italiens gränser.

Italië
Italië, officieel de Italiaanse Republiek, is een land in Zuid-Europa en behoort tot de Europese Unie. Ten noorden grenst Italië aan Frankrijk, Zwitserland, Oostenrijk en Slovenië. De rest van het land wordt omringd door de Tyrreense Zee, de Middellandse Zee, de Ionische Zee en de Adriatische Zee.
De hoofdstad van Italië is Rome (Roma). Daarin bevindt zich het onafhankelijke Vaticaanstad waarvan de paus het hoofd is. Een tweede onafhankelijke enclave binnen de Italiaanse grenzen is San Marino. Belangrijke steden zijn Milaan (Milano), Turijn (Torino), Genua (Genova), Venetië (Venezia), Florence (Firenze), Bologna, Verona, Napels (Napoli), Ancona, Bari, Messina en Palermo (de hoofdstad van Sicilië).
