Xhosa (; Xhosa: ) is one of the official languages of South Africa. Xhosa is spoken by approximately 7.9 million people, or about 18% of the South African population. Like most Bantu languages, Xhosa is a tonal language, that is, the same sequence of consonants and vowels can have different meanings when said with a rising or falling or high or low intonation. One of the most distinctive features of the language is the prominence of click consonants; the word "Xhosa" begins with a click.

isiXhosa (, deutsche Aussprache: []), vereinfachend Xhosa genannt, ist die Sprache der Xhosa und eine der elf Amtssprachen in der Republik Südafrika, außerdem wird es auch in Botsuana und Lesotho verwendet. Es wird von etwa 9 Millionen Menschen gesprochen und ist nach Zulu die zweithäufigste Muttersprache in Südafrika. Język xhosa - jeden z ważniejszych języków z rodziny bantu, posługuje się nim południowoafrykański lud Xhosa (głównie w RPA i Lesotho), liczbę użytkowników szacuje się na ok. 5,6 mln. Zalicza się do języków mlaskowych, co wyróżnia go spośród innych języków bantu (cecha ta została zapożyczona z języków khoisan).
