Isaac Luria

Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534 – July 25 1572) was a Jewish mystic in Safed. His name today is attached to all of the mystic thought in Safed: while his literary contribution to the Kabbalistic school of Safed was extremely minute (he only wrote a few poems), his fame led to the school and all its works being named after him. The main popularizer of his ideas was Hayim Vital, though Vital's claim to be the official interpreter of the Lurianic system was not undisputed.

Rabbi Isaac Ashkenazi de Louria ou Loria (Jérusalem 1534- Safed 1572), rabbin et kabbaliste, est considéré comme le penseur le plus profond du mysticisme juif parmi les plus grands et les plus célèbres, et le fondateur de l'école kabbalistique de Safed. Il fut même identifié par certains Sages comme étant le Machia`h ben Yossef.

Izaak Luria (ur. 1534 – zm.  5 sierpnia 1572) był żydowskim uczonym i mistykiem, uważanym przez swych wyznawców za Mesjasza. Jest uważany za twórcę nowożytnej Kabały - nowoczesny nurt mistycyzmu żydowskiego jest nawet nazywany Kabałą luriańską.W języku hebrajskim jest nazywany יצחק לוריא, Icchak Luria lub Icchak ben Solomon Aszkenazi. Znany jest też jako Izaak Aszkenazi, Ha-Ari (z hebr. dosł. "Lew", ale także akronim od "Boski Rabin Izaak").

Intestazione Il Rabbino Qabbalista Isaac Luria è considerato il più grande e celebre studioso del pensiero mistico ebraico. Sebbene il suo diretto contributo letterario sia stato estremamente esiguo (egli non scrisse che poche opere), per onorarne la fama venne dato il suo nome alla scuola Qabbalistica di Safed. Il principale divulgatore delle sue teorie fu Hayim Vital, che ebbe la pretesa di essere riconosciuto come l’interprete ufficiale del sistema Lurianico, sebbene fosse da alcuni contestato. Nella lingua ebraica egli veniva chiamato Yitzhak Lurya יִצְחַק לוּרְיָא, Yitzhak Ben Shlomo Ashkenazi, ed anche Yitzhak Ashkenazi. Era anche conosciuto come Ari אֲרִי e He-Ari (“Il Leone”) dall’acronimo di Ashkenazi Rabbi Itzhak (“l’Ashkenazi Rabbi Yitzhak"), così Arizal con “ZaL” divenne l’acronimo di Zikhrono Livrakha (“di benedetta memoria” o letteralmente “lasciate che la sua memoria sia benedetta”), una comune onorificenza ebraica per un defunto, e conosciuto anche come Ari Ha-Kadosh ("il Santo Ari").
