The is a Japanese poem, probably written in the Heian era (AD 794–1179). Originally the poem was attributed to the founder of the Shingon Esoteric sect of Buddhism in Japan, Kukai, but more modern research has found the date of composition to be later in the Heian Period. The first record of its existence dates from 1079. It is famous because it is a perfect pangram, containing each character of the Japanese syllabary exactly once. Because of this, it is also used as an ordering for the syllabary.

Iroha ist die Abkürzung für Iroha-uta (jap. , ). Es ist ein japanisches Gedicht, das alle Zeichen (Kana) des in der Heian-Zeit verwendeten Silbenvorrats der japanischen Schrift genau einmal verwendet. Es ist damit ein echtes Pangramm und wird auch als Ordnungsschema verwendet.

Le Iroha-uta (Japonais: いろは歌, littéralement Chant du Iroha), ou plus couramment Iroha, désigne la traduction en japonais d'un hymne du Sūtra du Nirvāna. Sa date d'écriture est, d'après les linguistes, ultérieur au XIe siècle. Longtemps utilisé pour l'apprentissage des kana, il fut remplacé par le Goinzu (tableau de cinq sons) puis par le Gojūonzu (tableau des cinquante sons) durant l'époque d'Edo. Il est maintenant utilisé pour l'initiation à la calligraphie, et sert parfois de classement.
