Die Iren (irisch: Muintir na hÉireann, na hÉireannaigh, na Gaeil, englisch: Irish (people)) sind eine Ethnie, deren Kerngebiet in Nordwesteuropa, auf den heutigen Britischen Inseln, liegt. Im engeren Sinne sind damit die Bewohner der Insel Irland, v.a. in der Republik Irland, aber auch im britischen Nordirland gemeint.

Le peuple irlandais, en irlandais : Muintir na hÉireann, na hÉireannaigh, na Gaeil, est un groupe ethnique d'Europe de l'Ouest, originaire d'Irlande. Les personnes d'appartenance ethnique irlandaise, vivant en dehors de ce pays, sont communes dans beaucoup de pays du monde occidental, particulièrement dans les pays anglophones. Ce sont les États-Unis qui accueillent le plus grand nombre de personnes d'ascendance irlandaise, environ dix fois plus qu'en Irlande elle-même.

Irlandczycy (ang.: Irish (people), irl.: Muintir na hÉireann, na hÉireannaigh, na Gaeil)- naród pochodzenia celtyckiego zamieszkujący Irlandię (ok. 4 mln). Istnieje bardzo duża diaspora Irlandczyków mieszkających poza Irlandią, ok. 85 mln osób na całym świecie przyznaje się do pochodzenia irlandzkiego, najwięcej w Stanach Zjednoczonych bo 34,5 mln. Wielu zamieszkuje także Kanadę (3,8 mln) i Australię (1,9 mln). Ich językiem ojczystym jest język irlandzki, ale współcześnie posługują się zazwyczaj językiem angielskim. Dominującym wyznaniem wśród Irlandczyków jest katolicyzm.
