Irak

The Republic of Iraq, usually known as Iraq (Arabic: , IPA: ), is a country in the Middle East spanning most of the northwestern end of the Zagros mountain range, the eastern part of the Syrian Desert and the northern part of the Arabian Desert. It shares borders with Kuwait and Saudi Arabia to the south, Jordan to the west, Syria to the northwest, Turkey to the north, and Iran to the east. It has a very narrow section of coastline at Umm Qasr on the Persian Gulf. There are two major flowing rivers: the Tigris and the Euphrates. These provide Iraq with agriculturally capable land and contrast with the desert landscape that covers most of the Middle East.

L’Irak, ou Iraq (Al `Iraq ), officiellement la République d’Irak (al Jumhuriyah al `Iraqiyah vient du perse eraq qui veut dire "basse terre" ), est un pays majoritairement musulman du Moyen-Orient, situé au nord de la péninsule arabique. L'Irak est parfois appelé Bilad ar-Rafidain (le pays des deux fleuves, Mésopotamie, en référence au Tigre et à l'Euphrate). Bagdad en est la capitale.

Der Irak (Araki, sumerisch für „Aufgang der Sonne“) ist ein großteils arabischer Staat in Vorderasien. Er grenzt an Kuwait, Saudi-Arabien, Jordanien, Syrien, die Türkei, Iran (Persien) und den Persischen Golf und umfasst den größten Teil des zwischen Euphrat und Tigris gelegenen „Zweistromlandes“ Mesopotamien, in dem die frühesten Hochkulturen Vorderasiens entstanden sind, sowie Teile der angrenzenden Wüsten- und Bergregionen. Er wird zu den Maschrek-Staaten gezählt.

L'Iraq (talvolta anche Irak per via della traslitterazione francese) è uno Stato dell'Asia. Confina con Turchia a nord, Arabia Saudita e Kuwait a sud, Siria a nordovest, Giordania a ovest e Iran verso est. Discende dall'antica Mesopotamia. La capitale e città più grande è Baghdad. Il presidente è stato per circa 25 anni Ṣaddām Husayn. Dal 9 aprile 2003 l'Iraq è stato un protettorato militare americano e dal gennaio 2005 un governo locale di transizione ha amministrato il Paese fino all'esecuzione del dittatore Saddham Hussein. Possiede le terze riserve di petrolio mondiali.
