Known as Inzaghino (‘Little Inzaghi’), Simone Inzaghi has stepped out of the shadow cast by elder brother Filippo in the last two seasons to become a feared top-class striker in his own right. After scoring the goals which saved Piacenza FC from relegation in 1998/99, Simone has continued finding the back since his switch to SS Lazio last summer. He hit nine goals in 99-00 season’s UEFA Champions League, setting a new tournament record with his four-goal haul against Olympique de Marseille in March 2000. A real goal poacher, his finishing exploits earned him an international debut against Spain in 2000 (L 1:2).
