Interstellar absorption

A process by which visible light is attenuated by the interstellar medium. This is so complete in absorption nebula that no light penetrates at all. Interstellar absorption depends on the wavelength of the electromagnetic radiation involved: the longer the wavelength the less the radiation is absorbed.
