Internet slang/language is slang that Internet users have coined and promulgated. Such terms typically originated with the purpose of saving keystrokes, and many people use the same abbreviations in text messages. They are also very commonly used in instant messaging. The terms often appear in lower case, with capitals reserved for emphasis; for example, the pronoun "I" often appears simply as "i." People also use "u" to mean "you," and "r" to mean "are." Also, many times people do not use apostrophes or punctuation in correct spots. Example: hey im so bored r u?

Ułatwia i przyspiesza komunikację poprzez zmniejszanie liczby kliknięć w klawiaturę.W slangu internetowym stosuje się akronimy wyrażeń, przede wszystkim pochodzące z języka angielskiego (np. ASAP - As soon as possible - tak szybko jak możliwe; LOL - laughing out loud – śmieję się na głos; IMHO – In My Humble Opinion – moim skromnym zdaniem), emotikony, pisownię fonetyczną (np. CU/CYA – ang. see you – do zobaczenia), pseudo-tagi języka HTML (np. <ironia> ... </ironia>), składnię języków programowania (głównie języka C), oraz hack mowę (ang. leetspeak).

Il gergo di internet è un tipo di linguaggio che gli utenti di internet hanno sviluppato e utilizzano. Molti dei suoi termini originano dal desiderio di risparmiare movimenti sulla tastiera. Le parole sono spesso scritte in minuscolo, e le maiuscole vengono riservate ai casi dove si voglia mettere enfasi: anche in inglese, il pronome "io", che in modo grammaticalmente corretto dovrebbe venir scritto "I", appare spesso come una semplice i minuscola. Frasi comuni di avviso (o parentetiche) vengono spesso contratte in acronimi, e la loro posizione ricorrente in alcune frasi può essere d'aiuto nella decrittazione. Alcuni esempi possono essere:IMHO, In My Humble/Honest Opinion, "nella mia modesta/umile opinione";AFAIK, As Far As I Know, "per quanto ne so";AFK, Away From Keyboard, "lontano dal computer".
