The International Telecommunication Union (Union internationale des télécommunications, in French) is the specialized agency of the United Nations which is responsible for information and communication technologies. ITU coordinates the shared global use of the radio spectrum, promotes international cooperation in assigning satellite orbits, works to improve telecommunication infrastructure in the developing world and establishes worldwide standards.

Die Internationale Fernmeldeunion (Kürzel ITU; englisch International Telecommunication Union; französisch Union internationale des télécommunications, UIT) mit Sitz in Genf ist eine Sonderorganisation der Vereinten Nationen und die einzige Organisation, die sich offiziell und weltweit mit technischen Aspekten der Telekommunikation beschäftigt. Sie ist Veranstalter der Weltfunkkonferenz, die die Vollzugsordnung für den Funkdienst fortschreibt.

Została ona założona jako International Telegraph Union (Międzynarodowy Związek Telegraficzny) 17 maja 1865 roku w Paryżu.
